Forward Walrod coveted by Michigan State Spartans’ hockey program

Kevin Walrod has paid his dues and next season he’ll reap the rewards.
Walrod, who’s played consistently well throughout the B.C. Hockey
League season with the Cowichan Valley Capitals, will be heading to
Michigan State University.
He’s accepted a full scholarship to join the famed National
Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1 Michigan State Spartans
commencing in the 2009-2010 season.
The hockey program at Michigan State continually excels, with seven
Central Collegiate Hockey Association league championships and 11
tournament titles. The school is also recognized as one of the top
universities in the world.
Walrod compiled 23 goals and 39 assists for 62 points during the
BCHL regular season. He had five game-winning goals.
